Casey Moir - vocals, electronics
Oli Mayne - electronics
Zsolt Sőrés - five-string viola

Casey Moir impressed us with his unique vocal sounds and kungfu-master-like determination when we met her at Improcon 2018. Now we finally have her as our guest for a mini-residency of a few days, the first act of which will showcase her solo vocal-electronic project. He will be joined by Zsolt Sőrés on viola, returning from Berlin, and Oli Mayne on electronics, who never runs out of new gadgets.

CASEY MOIR
Casey is a vocalist, improviser and composer of experimental music. In her artistic practice, she dives into the multifaceted exploratory voice with both thoughtful precision and wild abandon. Listening to the moment she follows entangled threads that unite voice and body with sound, room, time and place. Threads that reveal the raw, intricate, brazen, unfettered, intuitive and inquisitive sounding qualities of the voice.
She is founder, member, and artistic director of the experimental 5-piece Viva Vocal Ensemble. She performs regularly with her solo project, improvisational duos Moir/Coudoux, and Bang and Howl, with the 13-piece ensemble Été Large, trio 3 Grams and more. She also works regularly in interdisciplinary projects together with practitioners from other artistic fields, such as visual artists and dancers.
She is active on the international scene, having performed at festivals such as CTM Berlin (DE), Now Now Festival (AU), Umeå Jazz Festival (SE), Jazz Offensive Essen (DE), Ujbuda Jazz Festival (HU), SoundOut (AU), and Sound of Stockholm (SE). She works both in the field of improvisation and experimental music, having composed works for contemporary ensembles such as Curious Chamber Players, and performed new works of living composers, including Israel Martinez (MX), Christian Kesten (DE) and Catharina Backman (SE). She is also often invited to collaborate in short-term projects, for example City Composing with contemporary ensemble Mimitabu (SE), interdisciplinary project UnStumm (DE/SE), and with the Gothenburg Dance Company in their multi-space installation performance Surburbia 37° under the leadership of choreographer Pedro Goucha Gomes.

SŐRÉS-MAYNE
Internationally-renowned Hungarian electro-acoustic conceptual musician and theorist Zsolt Sőrés has been working together with UK/ German free improviser Oli Mayne in various acoustic and electronic formations since 2010. Their projects together have included 'Noise Flowers' (with Bizottság guru András Wahorn) and 'I belong to the band' (featuring Belgian vocalist Jean-Michel Van Schouwburg and cult British 'objects' player Adam Bohman). Individually they have performed with numerous musicians throughout Europe, including German avant-rock legends Faust (Zsolt is currently a member), Eddie Prevost (AMM), Katalin Ladik, and too many others to list here. Their last duo appearance took place at the Magyar Zene Háza in Budapest in 2022. Now a Berlin resident and back in Budapest on a rare visit, tonight's performance will see Zsolt showcasing his state-of-the-art 5 string viola, while Oli will be battling with his 'pseudo-modular' Erica Synths Syntrx 2 sound module.
