With his Eklektric, Lőrinc Barabás created a new style in pop music, while his jazz quartet got into the top league of the Hungarian jazz scene in the course of merely two years. As a solo artist, he is now on his fifth tour of the United States. Most recently he heeded the call of his classical muse, and the composition is performed with the participation of the Budapest Chamber Sinfonietta.
“The piece has several movements, but rather than telling a particular story, it presents moods and impressions. To date, I have fitted a host of small sketches and ideas to the instruments of either the Quartet or my solo set. But I have long been interested in the sound of the symphonic orchestra, and I have noted down a great many ideas, sonorities, and melodies I will now use in a composition for such an arrangement.” (Lőrinc Barabás)
In the first half of the concert, Lőrinc Barabás will play songs from his latest solo album, Algorythms, before performing the world premiere of Metamorphosis.
