BABEL JAZZ - Budapest - International Jazz Festival
2019. May 27 - 29.

Three days - three concerts with bands from the international scene of jazz in Budapest, at Darshan udvar!

➤ May 27., Monday - Subtext Duo (ISR)

Subtext is a piano-guitar duo who thrill audiences worldwide with their melodic and interactive storytelling. Gadi Lehavi is one of the most sought after pianists in the Israeli jazz scene, who performed with famous artists like Chick Corea and Avishai Cohen. Yoav Eshed graduated summa cum laude from Berklee College of Music and performs in festivals in Europe and Israel regularly.

➤ May 28., Tuesday - Dock In Absolute (LUX)

Dock In Absolute is a stellar trio from Luxembourg comprised of Jean-Philippe Koch on piano, David Kintziger on bass and Michel Mootz on drums. With a shared love of music, they combine different styles of progressive Jazz, classical and rock, playing the pianist’s own compositions. Their unique jazz style is rich in twists and turns in mood: from lyrical to unrestrainable, wild and graceful.

➤ May 29., Wednesday - Shalosh + Tula Ben Ari (ISR)

The music that is being created by Shalosh is characterized by its drama, its sophistication and its genre crossing in Jazz music. Despite the classic Jazz trio format (piano, bass and drums), SHALOSH's music takes its own path across and between genres like Rock, Groove, Classical, African and Middle Eastern music.

Rising star, Tal Ben Ari came to the public’s eye back in 2006, when her participation in videos with "Playing for Change", became a huge viral hit with millions of views on YouTube. Tula’s unique sound is derived from her deep roots as well as her deep immersion in the traditions of Middle Eastern music.
